If you need proof, just read this story on an attorney who petitioned the court to change the court case date because she had just delivered a baby and was on maternity leave….and the judge denied her, saying it was not a legitimate reason.

For real.

So….she has no one to rely on to take care of the infant while she is in court and therefore, baby comes with her.

Same judge objects to that, as well.

What did he want her to do with the child?

The catch for women is if she had not shown up, the judge would dismiss her case.  If she left the baby out in the corridor, she would have been charged with neglect (not that I think for a second she would have done that).

Not only is this a woman’s issue, but a child’s issue, as well.  Society needs to support women and children and stop making them out to be inconveniences.

Wow, I missed this story. I couldn’t figure out why they were talking about the students–now I understand the whole picture of what was going on and why they are so upset. Good God, the police are the criminals.

Anita Sarkeesian, a critic of sexism in video games, has cancelled a campus speech scheduled tomorrow after the university declined to ban guns from the venue in response to a threat of a mass shooting.

There’s a lot to unpack in that sentence, so let’s break it down.

Anita Sarkeesian is a feminist media critic who has been the subject of an ongoing campaign of harassment since 2012. Late this summer, as the #GamerGate campaign was heating up, she was driven from her home by new, specific threats against her and her family.

Sarkeesian was scheduled to speak at Utah State University tomorrow (Wednesday), but this morning several school officials received an emailed threat of “the deadliest school shooting in American history” if the speech went forward. The email’s author, who claimed to have a variety of guns and bombs in his possession, threatened a “Montreal Massacre style attack” on…

UMass nurses association protest staffing cuts while hospital rakes in millions

Related to the Texas Presbyterian hospital shoving Duncan out the door because he couldn’t pay, the UMass nurses association had this press release in July, on patient care and hospital CEO’s greed.

Despite raking in $80 million dollars in profits in 2013, the CEO is cutting staff, to the detriment of patient health.

Despite posting profits of more than $80 million in 2013 and more than $300 million over the last five years, UMass CEO Eric Dickson has endorsed cost cutting measures and the reorganization of patient care services based on a manufacturing model borrowed from the auto industry.

Yeah, because patients are not individual humans who get well at their own pace.  The auto industry?  Seriously?

“As registered nurses, we provide 90 percent of the clinical care our patients receive in our hospitals. We are the nurses who bear witness to the suffering of our patients, needless suffering caused by administrative neglect and the callous focus on the bottom line over patient care,” said Lynne Starbard, RN, a maternity nurse at the UMass Memorial Medical Center’s Memorial campus.

I was shocked to see that Dickson is a physician.  Must be one of those physicians that entered the professions with $$$ in his eyes, instead of wanting to be a healer.  What a creep.

The whole idea of being prepared is knowing what to do and hoping that you never have to put it into action. Good Grief, we now have three people infected with Ebola. How stupid can one be?
