George W. Bush trying to pretend Katrina never happened on his watch…

by attending the observance of the anniversary of brutality towards African Americans.

It’s been almost ten years since Katrina hit…and George W. Bush flew over and posed for a photo-op.…before safely heading back while people were without food, shelter, and being shot by police if they dared to leave.  Katrina facts here.

“George Bush stayed on vacation. He didn’t get back to work. When the worst natural disaster in our nation’s history attacked us, George Bush STAYED ON VACATION. Why did the federal government stumble so badly on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday? Because on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, George Bush stayed on vacation in Crawford, Texas. On Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday, vice president Dick Cheney STAYED ON VACATION in Jackson, Wyoming. On Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday, Sec. of State Condi Rice WENT ON VACATION in New York City and went to a splashy Broadway musical and bought obscenely expensive shoes. She went shopping,” Michael Giltz of AMERICAblog wrote September 5, 2005.

Rahm Emanuel is an Organic Tomato – sort of…

Ken Previti's avatarReclaim Reform

As Rahm Emanuel spends millions of dollars on TV ads and other media, he labels himself certain things. In propaganda terms, this is a simple plan. If something is repeated often enough, people will believe it as truth.

Rahm Emanuel organic tomato

One favorite term that Rahm and his PR people use is “Progressive Democrat.”
Just because he labels himself a “Progressive Democrat” doesn’t make him a Progressive Democrat any more than if he labeled himself… well, an “Organic Tomato.”

There are other corporate media connections that the rich and powerful use for their propaganda.

The Washington Post endorsed Rahm. Why?

Diane Ravich questions and answers what is behind the endorsement.

You may wonder how the term ‘progressive Democrat’ became a definition for someone who attacks teachers, unions, and public education, and exactly how they differ from conservative Republican governors like Scott Walker, John Kasich, and Mike Pence.

Rahm closed more public schools…

Answering a Challenge for “Full Disclosure” of My *Secret Funding*

Go Mercedes!

deutsch29's avatardeutsch29: Mercedes Schneider's Blog

On March 4, 2015, I wrote a post about a Louisiana teacher promoting the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in the op/eds and who happens to be under contract with the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) as a paid “common core expert.”

The teacher did not disclose that she is being financially compensated specifically for promoting CCSS.

money money

I took issue with both the compensation and the failure to disclose.

On March 6, 2015, I had a comment connected to the above post awaiting approval. It was written under the name, SickOfYourNonsense.

Here is what Sick had to say:

I think it’s time for full disclosure from you.

Who has been paying you under the table to keep our children tied to low standards and the worst curriculum in the nation,

Who has been paying you at all?

Setting aside the spitting-lizard tone of the above comment, allow me to…

Salvation Army asks if you see black and blue

Wow.  Salvation Army has come a long way, baby.  I say that because in general, there was this underlying belief that a man had a right to beat his wife, and that Christian women just took it….she stayed with a man no matter if he abused her, and if he did abuse her, that she had to try harder so he wouldn’t beat her.

So when I saw this, I was a bit taken aback because the more conservative religious still believe that a man has a right to beat his wife and children.

I still have an issue with the “Army” aspect of the group…much has been done to try to align Christianity with war and bombing people…which is nothing like what Jesus would do.

Where to buy non-GMO seeds

It’s going to hit 40 degrees here today!  Woot!

So…with thoughts of Spring…I thought I’d pass along a tip for finding seeds from non-GMO companies.

I think we tend to feel a little small in our ability to fight against the behemoths like Monsanto, Dow, et al, but we do have power.  Vote with your wallet/pocketbook.  They can’t be behemoths if no one supports them.  If your future and your children’s future is important to you, then support the folks trying to keep non-GMO seeds alive.  That can only happen if we support them.

Be well, my friends.

“I’m Here to Learn…”

Wow.  I wish I would have had a tenth of her moxy back when boys were calling me “ugly” “dog” and “goon” during my teen years.  Actually, I did say something, and things only got worse, instead of better.  Add a teacher that couldn’t care less, and you’re pretty miserable.

I’m glad she has a supportive mother and I hope that it’s the end of it, instead of the beginning of bullying.

Blessings to her. 🙂
