Today I have felt inspired and hopeful for how they light up the darkness by these three:
MSF movement (because been thinking on them explicitly as I was completing my MSF application form with a long-term MSF volunteer and listening to his stories)
Sambhavna clinic in Bhopal.
Veterans for peace with their brave and long-term commitment to anti militarism, who today staged a protest against war on Syria by some of them returning their war medals outside downing Street.
I blogged before on the Dineh (Navajo) fight to stay on their ancestral lands…they unfortunately got in the way of Big Energy and the politicians they bought off. Every time the Native Americans were forced off their land, oil and minerals seem to follow.
One has to wonder at the San Juan river spill— whether it happened out of negligence or on purpose — because the Dineh have been tough old birds and would rather live in shacks on their ancestral land than to move to more modern housing with electricity, taxes, utility bills, water bills, etc.
…because to the Native Americans, the modern house is a prison by any other name. Their shacks and pueblos are simple structures that do not have all the extras that cost extra money to support — they live simple lives so they do not have to sell their souls and pollute the earth in order to live. Which is only a short term proposition, anyway, because once you pollute all the land, all the water, and cannot breathe clean air, you’re dead anyway.
So now they have their source of all life — water — poisoned with lead, mercury, and who knows what other toxins….due to mining.
Below is a very good documentary of the Dineh and Hopi struggles throughout the 70s. It is outrageous how they were forced off their ancestral land by crooked politicians and ones of their own tribe. I mean, Udall was so cavalier about it — like one piece of land was no different than another. Udall doesn’t get that they feel the land is a living breathing organism. They live there all their lives and know the seasons, know the plants — which ones grow well there; and which ones are good for medicinal purposes; and which ones to stay away from (poison).
And as they say, their ancestors are buried there.
It was the old divide-and-conquer routine where they tried to pit the Hopi and Dineh against one another. Only they didn’t count on the interconnectedness of the tribes. The traditional Hopi and traditional Dine would not engage in hostilities.
**edited to add: One of the fighters for the Dine has passed. Ida Mae Clinton.
See…if you can’t buy them off, you fire them. Or worse…
But please don’t burn the tires again — it goes against the fight for the environment. Just my humble opinion.

New Brunswick’s top doctor was fired by the provincial Liberal government to clear the way for the lifting of a moratorium on shale gas exploration this spring, according to the leader of the provincial NDP.
Provincial NDP leader Dominic Cardy says a senior government source told him Eilish Cleary, New Brunswick’s now-fired chief medical officer, would stand in the way of a government decision to lift the moratorium.
I found this very deep and I agree with almost everything they say — with the exception that he states the corporations will be the ones to right the wrongs. The corporations have been the power behind destroying the earth and the ancient wisdom…they are being run by psychopaths who are so disconnected that they don’t even see that it comes back around to them.
As the elder asks the corporate executive: when does he start being a grandfather…?
The elder answered his own question about the CEO being the change agent –because the elder goes on to say that another year would pass, and nothing would have changed. It’s not going to come from corporations. It comes from each person realizing that change starts with them and their willingness to not contribute to polluting the earth and realizing the spiritual connection. When the elder Shenandoah speaks of the Peacemaker, I believe she is referring to Jesus.
School Finance has this up on the glaringly obvious destruction not only of our public schools, but of the teachers that teach them through lame faceless internet “universities” .
Once again, they are trying to brand environmentalists as terrorists, and shut down protests as a way to “protect” the public. Oh, and wait for them to say it’s for the good of the protesters, as well. “For Your Own Good” has to be one of the biggest lies of all time. And as far as being spied on, if you’ve spoken out about the environment, or against the loss of our rights –and about the government breaking the law by violating those constitutional rights, you are already on The List. Which is why Obama’s remarks today that anyone Big Brother has put on The List will not be able to legally purchase guns for protection. Anyone who speaks out can be labeled a terrorist, whether they have ever uttered a threat, or even know how to fire a gun. And as someone has said — if you’re not on The List, shame on you.

OTTAWA — Intelligence officials are concerned that extremists might infiltrate peaceful anti-petroleum protests to “incite violence,” a newly disclosed assessment indicates.
The federal analysis of threats to the passenger rail system introduces a new twist to the often tense debate over state scrutiny of environmental demonstrators that otherwise harmless activists might unwittingly harbour dangerous terrorists.
Yep. It may sound a little dramatic, but I invite you all to watch the following and see how fructose is a killer through heart disease. See, you’ve been programmed to believe that if we lowered our fat intake, we would be healthy and we would prevent heart disease.
And if we had high LDL cholesterol, we could just pop some pills and the heart disease risk would go down, right?
Only, that isn’t quite the case. I was shocked when I first read of sugar actually being the culprit behind heart attacks. Even more shocking is the connection between sugar and cancer, but Dr. Lustig does not get into that, unfortunately.
Without further ado, here is the video. It’s an hour and a half, but well worth your time. Anything is better than sitting watching *cough* reality shows or sitting on your bum playing video games.
