…to stand for missing and murdered First Nations women. Good for them.

Another model comes forward on Terry Richardson
Another model has come forward on being allegedly sexually assaulted by sleazebag photographer Terry Richardson. My prior post on him here.
This report explains one of the manipulative techniques of Richardson–calling the girl a prude and telling her she needs to loosen up. I’m glad to see a couple of models formerly photographed by Richardson are taking positive action against this predator.
And the question of the hour is…why do people, especially celebrities, who have a lot going for them, are intelligent and compassionate, associate themselves with this manipulative exploitative creep?
He is a dark one. He is beneath contempt. Associating with him and promoting him is feeding the dark side, in my opinion. It’s saying that his behavior is acceptable…it’s okay. And it’s not.
It’s a crazy experience to celebrate the female body as beautiful, and then degrade her because she’s a woman. Crazy.
So much of what is wrong in the world today is by the degradation of women. Wars, violence, greed, all thrive because the feminine–the softness, compassion, empathy, nurturing, and nature–is not respected. Not given equal weight. Not honored.
For example, the Earth, which is feminine, is stripped of oil and then left polluted and scarred…not unlike sexual violence. Wars are the same.
We all can be violent or compassionate. We can feed the dark or light. It’s our choice, our free will.
Mohawk became ill after fed jail meal
Warrior Publications has this up on a Mohawk warrior who became ill after being fed a meal while being held in jail.
He became violently ill, but did not receive medical attention.
Shawn Brant is asking that the tape of the day he became ill not be erased. There’s no mention of any remaining food being tested, so I’m guessing that is not being done.
It doesn’t appear that the police are going to own this, based on the comments of the representative. We’ll see…
Sleazebag Terry Richardson **updated
I came across the name Terry Richardson as a sleazebag photographer…and decided to look him up to see what the fuss was about. What I found was sickening, to say the least.
Warning, the links here and here are graphic, so if that bothers you, don’t click. Briefly, this photographer has done some creepy acts, including alleged rape, by the models he was supposed to be shooting. And the alleged abuse is known to the industry….so why are they allowing it…? Because they use sex to sell the products…?
As someone whom has been sexually harassed and abused, I take this very personally. I know his type of predator and how they operate….so it’s not hard to believe he did these actions because the predators always work in the same way–gain trust, manipulate, use power over, and then abuse them while accusing them of “wanting it.”
Excuse me, I need to go throw up…
**updated with more on this creep here.
Aboriginal rights a threat to Canada’s resource development
Warrior Publications has this up on what we already knew, but yeah, putting it in writing that Harper and the rest see the land rights of the First Nations folks being problematic.
See…it’s so much harder to get the oil out when you have to ask permission by folks who see it as violating the Earth. They aren’t as easily swayed by $$ because the Earth is sacred to them.
It’s even more of a problem when those folks have the law on their side.
Honor the Treaties, Canada.
More on Tyendinaga Mohawks blockade
Here’s another article on the blockade drawing attention to the missing and murdered indigenous women.
The federal government has already insisted that it is willing to commit $25 million to the National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains. While this is a start, the mandate is not specific to why First Nations women are at a higher risk of violence due to historical and socio-economic factors.
~~~~~
It seems lost on the Harper government that these women are being targeted because they are First Nations women…why?
And why have most of them occurred in the last 15 years? A serial killer undetected?
Venezuela Protests: S. American Tea Party?
Dispatches from the Underclass has an interesting post up on what is happening in Venezuela.
Ukraine, revisited, it would seem…if the allegations about being funded by a conservative, elite network including Americans, is true.
I have no illusions about how greedy oil corporations and others are and what lengths they will go to in order to get what they perceive as theirs…
…but I have to plead ignorance about the situation there and who is telling the truth–situations can be manipulated by the media, as well as helping shed light.
Here is an article with the opposite stance on the protesters. It is so lopsided and devoid of facts that I have to wonder about the author’s financial connections to those that stand to gain from Maduro’s overthrow.
Shutting down the media – Russia
Global News has this up on Russia blocking websites that favored the ouster of the Russia – leaning president. More here on Ukrainian-Montrealers protesting outside Russian consulate.
This is another example of why we need Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press and how easily those in power can block them with the claim of national security.
As I listen to and read about the uprising/civil war/revolution in Ukraine, the words I hear the most are about economic factors and standing in the world. The message is framed to turn the viewers’ gaze on how this is going to effect economic status.
And the sharks are circling…waiting to capitalize on the fallout.
Democracy seems to be an afterthought.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: most folks around the world just want peace; to take care of their families; be healthy; have a purpose in life. They want a government they elect to represent their wishes…not their economic benefactors.
Pando Daily had posted this a few days ago. A billionaire funnels money to the opposition in Ukraine. Ugh…
My first thought that this is wrong, wrong, wrong.
And then I thought of the dark money of the Kochs and Bill Gates, et al, and my second thought was “is it wrong to fund the underdog when up against dark money…?”
But I don’t know that the underdogs in Ukraine are for democracy or for authoritarianism a la Russia. Reports have been that at first the original protesters were for democratic society, and then the conservatives, leaning towards authoritarianism, had taken over.
So that begs the question of who is Omidyar supporting? Does he care, as long as he can capitalize on whomever wins?
Comments section is lively and make the point that Pando is also supported by billionaires.
They responded with this article. They make the claim the Omidyar is hands-on involved in the process, while their contributors cannot touch them with a 30-foot pole.
But back to the main theme of billionaires behind upheaval…
I come back to this is wrong, wrong, wrong in that however good intentions are…somebody always seems to twist things around to the opposite. The dark ones always seem to manage to quash the emerging light.
If only politicians were put on poverty-level wages…then we would be governed by those truly serving out of duty instead of out of their own self-serving interests. You’d see a mass exodus from government positions…
**A side note~ one of the links provided was to Glenn Greenwald’s behavior.
Protesting lack of concern for missing First Nations women
The Tyendinaga Mohawks of Canada are protesting the lack of action on the part of the authorities for the missing and murdered First Nations women. It has been decades of inaction for these cases.
The case against Hillary Clinton as President
Ralph Nader has this up on the actions of Hillary Clinton and why she would not be a good President. I heart Ralph and wrote his name on a ballot once, along with 26 other souls in my republican stronghold small town.
…former Secretary of State Clinton ordered U.S. officials to spy on top UN diplomats including Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon, and those from the United Kingdom. She ordered her emissaries around the world to obtain DNA data, iris scans and fingerprints along with credit card and frequent flier numbers. Not only was this a clear violation of the 1946 UN convention, but after admitting what happened she didn’t even make a public apology to the affected parties.
~~~~~`
Big Brother, meet Big Sister…of course Hillary would not make an apology….she clearly feels she did nothing wrong. Stunning. Absolutely stunning the hubris of this politician.
Nader also notes her actions getting us into Libya with no Congressional approval.
Like I’ve said before, I’m sick of Bushes and Clintons in the White House. They have come to believe they are entitled to the position, for one. For another, their policies, along with Ronald Reagan, have led this country into the pit it is in now. How anyone could vote for her or support her after the revelations of what she has done is beyond me.
Nader links to the Nixon and Kissinger article in the NY Times, as Hillary Clinton is best buds with Henry Kissinger. Another article on Kissinger and Nixon here with more details.
If you recall, he was in the I’m-not-running-for-president video of Hillary Clinton, along with Benjamin Netanyahu:
…and Tony Blair..? Of the Downing Street Memo…?
Yes, yes, he is yet another example of ethics and humanity. /snark
