Young: Tar Sands are Canada’s Hiroshima **edited

Neil Young is finishing up his “Honor the Treaties” concerts in Canada.  He compared what is happening to Hiroshima, which irked a few people.

He is being compared to Jenny McCarthy, whom has spoken out on vaccines causing autism.

McCarthy, a former model/actress, vehemently claims childhood vaccinations cause autism and other disabilities, despite those claims having been disproven by rigorous scientific research.

Well, as I posted recently, scientific research has a few flaws in it that the vaccine apologists, as Dr. Cutler refers to them, choose to ignore.

I hope that Neil Young considers being compared to Jenny McCarthy a compliment, because I do….much as I do when I’m called a bitch for speaking up for myself or others…

People who diminish others have little facts to back their claims up…that’s why they attack the person instead of the person’s arguments.  Ad hominem.

**edited to add:  I just wanted to say that Global News pushes vaccines.  They had article after article on scaring people into getting vaccination, and that the flu season was horrible, and that they were running out of vaccines.  Very lopsided reporting.

AIPAC influencing Senators on Iran

AIPAC is behind the new bill to put new sanctions on Iran–a list of those willing to risk peace with Iran and the Middle East here.

Netanyahu is always flailing his arms about Iran’s nuclear capabilities…so why would he and the bankers want to destroy an agreement limiting Iran’s nuclear capabilities?

I’m Sorry, Dude…

…were the words of Kelly Thomas as he was harassed and beaten by two police officers.  He died of his injuries in the hospital.  I couldn’t watch the video –had to stop it at 3:12 .

They were so far out of line up to that point it is mindboggling how they could NOT be found guilty of violating this man’s Fourth Amendment rights.  Never mind that he was mentally challenged.   And homeless.

The war on the poor continues….

Neil Young is trading pointed remarks with the Canadian government over the tar sands oil.

Good for him.   I’m glad someone with some media attention is speaking out for the indigenous.

 

Update: Mother Agnes and Syria

In this post, I came upon a link someone provided in the comments section about Mother Agnes Mariam and her assertions on stuff going on in Syria.

Someone pointed me towards this piece in the Guardian and how Human Rights Watch disputed Mother Agnes’ assertions.

Human Rights Watch carries more weight with me than Mother Agnes, because I don’t know enough about her.  I think she is probably scared.

Advocates for releasing Tilikum, and the other orcas in captivity have spoken out against Sea World.  The owners of Sea World just don’t get it–no matter how well you say you treat the orcas, you are still holding them captive against their will.

A prison cell with a luxury bed and carpeted floor is still a prison cell…

Free Tilikum and all the orcas back to their native waters where they belong.

Huffington, Gates, join forces

In what could be called the Billionaires’ News Service, Ariana Huffington and Bill Gates, amongst other billionaires, want to control even more of the media message….er, I mean, news…

…and this, my friends, is why we need the Fairness Doctrine.  This is why we need a break up of the monopoly of the press and media by the 1%–they already have their voices heard, over and over.  They were able to sell the Iraq War through their monopoly of the news outlets–radio, paper, TV–as we saw in the previous blog on Iraq Veterans against the War.  It was scripted without so much as one critical media reporter…oh, wait, Phil Donahue was critical…and he was fired.  The more that media is concentrated, the less independent voices are heard.  If we had the media we had in the 60s and 70s, there would have been more investigating of WMD’s, and less cheerleading by the talking heads.

The Guardian link, has a little more detail.  Keep in mind that the Guardian has also joined forces with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation… further concentrating Gates’ media messaging…

A side note~~A commenter on the commondreams site has this link up**.  Wow. If this is true, it opens up yet another can of worms of falsifying evidence to get us into yet another war….

And the questions begin:  Why did Scahill and Jones refuse to share a stage with Mother Marian?  If Scahill is as good as investigative reporter that he is reported to be, then why would he not investigate the accusations against Mother Marian?  Why did he not seek her out to get her side of the story?  This is all just mindboggling.
