You did your best, now please take care of yourselves. Post #indyref love and hugs

So…I take it Scotland is still part of the UK. (sigh) So sorry for those of you wanting independence. I believe we have Scottish blood, as well, and I was rooting for you. Don’t give up the fight.

I’m sad for all my friends who feel so upset and disenchanted and have had their hopes for today dashed. I’m unhappy because Cameron et al get to be super smug and that they once again had it their own way. I’m not sad because of the actual result, but that doesn’t stop me wanting to offer all of you who are sad hugs, affection and that, as you have been saying all along, it didn’t end yesterday, whatever the outcome.

mountain-sunset-wallpaperTake some time out for yourselves to mourn and grieve a lost campaign. Take a break – most of you have been working on this for a couple of years and built up to a feverpitch in the closing weeks and days. Look after each other. Cry. But also go for walks in beautiful places. Share tasty and nutritious food. Listen to music. Have a well earned holiday. Encourage…

CDCwhistleblower

Congressman Bill Posey’s office has confirmed exclusively to Benswann.com that a “very large number” of documents have been turned over by CDC scientist, Dr. William Thompson, who has admitted that the CDC suppressed information about the links between the MMR vaccine and autism in some cases.

According to Congressman Posey’s spokesman, George Cecala, “I can confirm that we have received a very large number of documents and we are going through those documents now. There are a lot of them, so it will take some time.” Cecala could not say exactly how many documents are in possession of the Congressman’s staff though sources tell me that as many as 100,000 documents have been handed over.

The Feminism of Nizar Qabbani.

Awesome!

My newest article, The Feminism of Nizar Qabbani, is up on Muftah.

“Nizar Qabbani is one of the most famous Arab poets of the 20th century. From his direct, erotic poetry, addiction to women, and impulsive and passionate verses, to his constant criticism of Arab leaders and powerful calls for justice, sixteen years after his death, Qabbani remains an indispensable voice throughout the Arab world.”

“Qabbani adressed many gender-related taboos, from the frustration of a woman whose husband will not satisfy her sexual needs, to the anguish of a pregnant mistress thrown out on the street by her lover for refusing to get an abortion. Out of his enormous love for the Arab world, Qabbani criticized what was wrong with the region, in the hope that progress and change for the better would come.”

It’s always inspiring to read and write about Qabbani…

Latest report from AAPLE, an organization of Chicago school principals.

Catalyst:

Principals say the cleanliness of their buildings is integral to students learning and note that they are naturally held accountable for it. However, under the new contract, principals do not supervise the custodians at all. Some principals say the custodian managers turnover on a regular basis.

“The person who supervises them comes once a week,” says one principal, who did not want to be identified. “That is just not going to work.”

That principal of a Northwest Side school said that at the end of the school year the custodians assigned to her school left urine in the toilets for weeks. Then, they moved furniture out of a classroom, but broke things when they brought it back in. Her building is more than 100 years old and she says that when it gets dirty it is hard to get clean.
