This week’s pics of beautiful Canada. I was thinking about Neil Young’s song and the video of the Earth before the energy companies move in, and how much is lost that cannot be regained after they’re done stripping the land…

Kochs Exposed: one of the most important films…
…you will ever see is here.
It is just mindboggling how the Koch brothers have their tentacles in every aspect of society: union busting, voting rights, livable wages, social security, corporate taxes, healthcare, etc….
Not only that, but equally troubling is how easily Congress and politicians can be bought.
They are more than willing to endorse the racist ideas of the Kochs by a stealth way of re-segregating schools, interfering with one’s right to vote, and dumping toxins in poor and black neighborhoods. The only thing missing from this documentary is how BP is right there with Koch and will most likely accept the petcoke byproduct of tar sands at the Whiting, Indiana refineries. Indiana always seems to get lost in the concerns of pollution.
Another troubling aspect of this documentary is how Ed Shultz is featured as being against the Kochs, but he is for XL pipeline….which the Kochs are behind! One can only wonder how much the Kochs have paid to MSNBC or to Shultz (which I would find it hard to believe, but Kochs seem to go on the belief that everyone has a price…and they only need to find out what that price tag is…) since Ed has changed his tune, and the Kochs are known for greasing palms to buy people’s silence or worse, it’s not without merit to question if they have paid somebody off to get Ed to promote the pipeline.
I’m glad, however, to say that some of us care about the environment and our health and our children’s health and are resistant to this dirty money…
Elizabeth Warren, et al, come out against XL Pipeline
Well, I’m glad that these folks have come out against the XL Pipeline.
This is, essentially, a rebellion by 22 progressive congressional Democrats against the Clinton-Obama effort to provide a market for the Kochs’ oil. The letter was actually written by Representative Henry Waxman and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, and co-signed by senators Barbara Boxer, Ed Markey, Dick Durbin, Jeff Merkley, and Elizabeth Warren; and Representatives John Conyers, Jr., Barbara Lee, Raúl M. Grijalva, Rush Holt, Louise M. Slaughter, Jerrold Nadler, Judy Chu, Peter DeFazio, Anna G. Eshoo, Sam Farr, Peter Welch, Alan Lowenthal, Mark Pocan, and Steve Cohen.
Note how deeply involved Hillary Clinton is in XL– how Paul Elliott, a former staff member, is a lobbyist for TransCanada, along with David Goldwyn.
Secretary Clinton’s State Department allowed the environmental impact statement on the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline to be performed by a petroleum industry contractor that was chosen by the company that was proposing to build and own the pipeline, TransCanada. That contractor had no climatologist, and the resulting report failed even at its basic job of estimating the number of degrees by which the Earth’s climate would be additionally heated if the pipeline is built and operated. Its report ignored that question and instead evaluated the impact that climate change would have on the pipeline, which was estimated to be none.
~~~~~~~~~
Be sure to click on this link about the March, 2013, XL Pipeline “environmental report” as a hoax.
[…] Therefore, the reason no calculation was done of the XL pipeline’s global-warming impact appears to be that no one who was involved in the study had any climatological expertise or interest.
[…]
But be that as it may: it is by now clear that the State Department’s Draft “Environmental Impact Statement” on XL is neither by the State Department, nor does it address the pipeline’s impact on global warming, nor was anyone who had expertise on global warming even involved in its preparation. The report is thus a triple-hoax, so that to call it fraudulent would put the matter mildly.
~~~~~~~~~~
Note that the Obama Administration is trying to force the EU to purchase the Koch Brothers’ dirty oil. Unreal.
Additionally, I don’t see it mentioned in the article, but I have a huge concern about the petcoke byproduct of this dirty oil that will make its way to Whiting, Indiana. This is devastating to our environment and the people breathing this toxic garbage. It seems to me that Indiana has become the garbage can of the Kochs and others who have nowhere else to dump this stuff. Like I said before, they should start dumping this stuff on the Koch’s lawn, and see how long it takes them to change their minds about the petcoke (haha, I first typed “petchoke”…really, more accurately describes its affects on the lungs of people).
Progress…?
For those of you who don’t know, I’m recovering from mercury poisoning. This is just a short post on my progress–
You might recall I’ve written about mercury poisoned folks not getting colds like normal. I had not had a cold – a sneezing your head off cold – for about five years.
So…I had one last month where I sneezed more in one week than I had the entire past year. And I have another one now…
I never thought I would be happy that I’m sneezing…but, yeah, I am. :p
The theory is that mercury so damages our immune system that it cannot muster a response, which is what the sneezing, aching muscles, etc., are…
So, while sneezing is no fun, it makes me happy to know that my immune system is still alive and kicking its way back from the cliff. ::does happy dance:: :;well, okay, doesn’t do happy dance because I feel like crap right now…but the spirit is willing even though the body sez Pfft.::
The right to raw milk
…is also a right to decide what goes into our bodies. Apparently, Americans aren’t the only ones battling the bureaucrats who won’t allow us to know what food contains GMO’s…but tell us that good, natural raw milk with natural enzymes and natural Vitamin A and D (not synthetic, which is questionable) that help us digest that milk…is bad for us. Riiiight. Somebody please explain this backward thinking…’cause I don’t get it…
More here.
Additionally, the right to decide what goes into our bodies has a far-reaching aspect–the right not to be vaccinated. It never ceases to amaze me that abortion advocates will call you a nutjob for being anti-vaccine while saying that you have a right to choose to have an abortion…but not have a right to refuse vaccination. Unreal.
Putting an “X” on XL and Enbridge Pipelines
Idle No More has put up links to several folks speaking out against XL and Enbridge Pipelines:
Honor the Earth:
Rise Up Mother Earth:
Note how they characterize Mother Earth as crying–Earth isn’t a big ball of dirt, but a living, breathing organism.
Here’s a list of nationwide vigils.
The Black Snake will face mounting opposition.
What did Big Oil know and when did they know it. Jack Gerard, head of the American Petroleum Institute, thought the pipeline was dangerous to the environment…bwahahahahaha *snort* /just a little joke there, folks
Finally, Democracy Now! featured the XL in a debate with an industry insider and Friends of the Earth:

Grain Brain
A discussion was started on the mercury support group about a member getting her mother to move in with her and get the horrible amalgams out of her mouth so she could detox.
I was happy for her and her mother. I related to her that my mother suffered from Alzheimer’ s that I am almost positive she was a Celiac and mercury toxic. But unfortunately, my own self diagnosis came too late to help her. I tried to convince my siblings that she was Celiac. This was about six months before she passed. They were saying she was too far gone at that point, and I am still questioning that–hell it was worth a try.
The nurse at her doctor’s office practically laughed at me when I called to request the doctor investigate a possible Celiac diagnosis. I tried to explain to the nurse about the neurological connection to Celiac and mercury poisoning… she politely listened, but I could tell she thought I was a nut.
My mother continued to eat breads, cakes, and cookies. My siblings were of the opinion that it was the one pleasure she had left in life…but my thinking was that pleasure was surely causing her illness.
Another member brought up the book, Grain Brain by neurologist David Perlmutter. I haven’t read the book yet, but I did catch him on PBS yesterday.
What he said stunned me–that a *cough* scientific “fact” has been disproven: That your brain does not regenerate brain cells. It does.
Stunning–we have been taught that our brains cannot regenerate, but Dr. Perlmutter states that aerobic exercise turns on the genes responsible for brain cell regeneration. He stated that DHA (fish oil) also does the same thing. I had experienced this myself, prior to mercury poisoning–I noticed about six months after beginning aerobic exercise how much better I felt and how much better my brain functioned. I started after the birth of my first child, and it was the only exercise that I enjoyed (I always disliked sit ups, push ups, etc. …b-o-r-i-n-g. And I disliked the competitive nature of gym class. We had a teacher once that punished the side that lost–since one side always had to lose, it was a ridiculous punitive action that made me hate gym class.)
Anyway, Dr. Perlmutter was basically stating everything I had learned from Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride on the GAPS diet…grains are bad for you. Period. I think Perlmutter goes into more detail about specific amounts of carbs to have…I’m just not comfortable with the mindset that one-size-fits-all. I think we are too individualistic and medicine still does not recognize that. They like to have us pigeonholed into neat little scientific packages when it has been shown, over and over again, that our bodies are unique and respond differently….as in the case of mercury poisoning…there are few symptoms that are alike for merc poisoning. That is why it is so difficult for them to diagnose–they can’t seem to wrap their brains around many different symptoms–some physical, some neurological–coming from toxin exposure.
DN!
I don’t think democracynow could have put together a more emotional show than they did today.
The domestic violence segment is heartbreaking. I don’t know how anyone can look at that woman’s injuries and ask her why she didn’t try to run away! Who does that?! (I’m really trying to restrain myself from using every choice expletive I know). Given that she will either not have a job, or has one that pay is so low she cannot survive on her own, it will take nearly being beaten to death (or verbally abused to the point of the soul’s death), before she will even *think* of leaving.
I’m sure the documentary will explore the subject, but having not seen it, I can’t foresee that they will explore everything–the impact of toxins on rage; the circle of domestic violence, war, and domestic violence. The interview mentions that the abuser was a body builder—red flag right there because of steroid use and other drugs that are known to produce aggressive feelings.
Secondly, mercury and other heavy metals can produce feelings of rage and apparently promote criminal behavior. Since one can’t really escape mercury, because it’s everywhere, I think it should be standard to do hairtests on those charged with crimes. One can only wonder at what we would find–and how detoxing someone acting in a criminal way could change their life to a positive one….
My biggest hope for the film is to gather all the evidence of the rape/violence against women culture we live in.
I’ve touched on the domestic violence connection to war here.
My blog on the justification of rape…because *she’s just a whore* here.
My blog on the military and sexual harassment/rape here. I wish that I could say my prediction of expressions of “outrage” and then business as usual was wrong…but, alas….women will still have to go through their chain of command, who may or may not be harassing them, too, or encouraging an atmosphere of bullying (which is what sexual harassment/rape/violence are). How can we say that the youth are wrong for chanting misogynist lyrics when adults are condoning the treatment of women as second class?
I briefly volunteered for an organization that used lawyers and paralegals volunteering to help victims of domestic violence get protective orders. It was hard to take–the first case I had, I was to interview the victim. She unfortunately was not native to this country and her English was hard to understand at times, so there was a small communication barrier. She was afraid of her victimizer, because he threatened to have her sent back to her native country, among other things. The lawyer, trying to work within the laws on the books (that suck), told her to take the minimum that the judge would offer her. I tried to convince her, based on the attorney’s advice. She refused. The judge ruled against her petition, leaving her vulnerable. I never felt so worthless for letting her down. She was understandably upset and immediately felt we had let her down. It was hard.

The second part of the show, about Alzheimers’ and Dementia was particularly hard. It’s coming up on a year anniversary of my mother’s death…and it’s already starting to affect me.
It was especially hard to see the faces of the patients–I saw my Mom in them. Music is definitely a way to reach them, as it was one of the last things my mother lost, but in the end, she was so detached that I don’t know whether having her own headset would have helped. The nursing home did play Beatles and other 60s music, but that was in the dining hall, not in the patients’ rooms. Mostly, they watched mind-numbing TV that doesn’t stimulate them by any measure.
And, as above, a hairtest on heavy metals should also be standard for these patients….my God, think of the lives saved if these folks were toxic and able to be saved through detox….
West Virginia toxin spill: it ain’t over…
Dispatches from the underclass has a post up with an interview of a West Virginia mom concerned about the water and the effects on her children.
As she brings up, they are already dealing with toxins from the coal industry (mercury, lead, arsenic), and now this….their water is brown.
The scene from JAWS comes to mind where they tell everyone that it’s safe to go back into the water…um-hmmm….
And the sad thing, besides endangering these folks’ health and not knowing what this chemical does to people…is that West Virginia is one of the most beautiful states I’ve ever been in. The mountains are sooo gorgeous.
Mercury and Autism
(Most of you have read this stuff before, so it will be boring to you. I’m posting for folks who are new to this info.)
Dr. Andrew Hall Cutler, whose protocol I follow, spoke out on the deliberate act of confusing the public (and even the medical profession) about mercury and autism.
He referred to this paper, by M. Catherine Desoto, PhD, and Robert Hitlan, PhD. , that appeared in the Journal on Child Neurology, Nov. 2007.
I know that when I was really sick, I did not want to leave my home. I wanted no contact with people at all. As I started to get better with chelation, I wanted to be around people–I just didn’t want to talk to anyone—this was more pronounced in new situations or with people I was unfamiliar with (that kind of goes with learning new things–if I learned something before being mercury poisoned, I’ve had an easier time learning a new aspect of it. If, however, it was totally new, my eyes would glaze over from being overwhelmed.)
I still have autistic symptoms when I’m chelating–don’t want to talk (or write a blog). This proves me beyond a doubt that there is a connection between mercury and autism.
As the authors of this paper explore, mercury exposure does not necessarily correlate with presence of mercury in the hair. Dr. Cutler had said that the ability to excrete mercury is an individual thing, with some of us being poor at mercury/heavy metal elimination. Again, the Irish are particularly susceptible to this as we lack the gene to excrete mercury properly. Gluten intolerance also allows more mercury to enter the blood stream via “leaky gut” (holes in the gut caused by inflammation from the inability to digest the gluten)—a double whammy.
Dr. Cutler also mentioned something that happened in 1972 in Iraq: many were poisoned by ethylmercury in grain (reports that it is methylmercury are wrong, according to Dr. Cutler). Boy, there’s a study to end all studies of how these folks who survived and reproduced, passing mercury damaged DNA on to their offspring and how that affected their personalities/level of tolerance.
As I read about the seed sown in millions of acres, I’m wondering about the contamination of the soil?

In other health news, the FDA has come out with a lame warning on acetominophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol. An Eli Lilly researcher once told me that acetominophen damages liver cells. Ibuprofen damages kidney cells. I don’t think there is a *safe* amount to take. You have to weigh the options–how bad do you really feel? Bad enough to kill off some liver or kidney cells? This is why people need to be given the information and let them make up their own minds how much they are willing to risk their health…
