Eye Candy

This week’s photos of lovely Canada…

Number 1 is awe-inspiring….the wonder of it all…

#4 is so wonderfully serene…letting go of the worries of the day…

#7 shows the paradox–the seals have adapted to our intrusion into the natural world, landing on top of the dock (or whatever that thing is that they’re on)…while the huge ship floats behind them.   We give very little care to how we have impacted nature…while nature does its best to adapt.

#10 – another great pic of a beach that is unspoiled–no plastic bottles or trash to be seen. Wonderful.

#12- a horseback ride on the beach at sunset…awesome.

#13 – Bunny!

Funny story–I was out in the yard doing yard stuff when a bunny was frightened by my presence.  I joked with my daughter that I scared the foo-foo out of bunny foo-foo. Haha.

#22 love the rainbow, natch.

#24 looove this picture–a quiet water, but there is so much more underneath….

Another awesome view on #28

Enjoy. 🙂

Eye Candy

This week’s lovely pics of beautiful Canada….

Love the beach photo–I could not make out any bottles or plastic on the shore.  It looked totally untouched.  Serene.

…and I’m off to create something…I may be back later, depending on how my project goes.  The mercury severely impacted the right side of my brain, so my creativity is still struggling to return.  When I get in one of these moods, I go with it…:)

Water-harvesting towers

Creation Assistance has a post up on Water Harvesting towers in Ethiopia.  They had me until I read that the material is made from polythylene textile.  I read a couple of websites on polythylene, and they claim that it is not toxic although it is made from petroleum.  I don’t buy it.  How many times have they claimed that there are certain plastics that are safe….only to be told many years or decades later that they were, in fact, toxic?  Meanwhile, we poison ourselves and our kids

So. although I think it’s a great idea, there has to be a natural material that can be used to collect the water…perhaps hemp fabric woven with bamboo?

A week of sliding meals

Fig Jam and Lime Cordial has a good blog up on…leftovers.  There. I said it.  It sounds so much better the way it’s written in the blog..without actually saying the word.  Leftovers have been given such a bad name…but Celia does such an excellent job of the kitchen version of reduce, reuse, recycle. 🙂

Eye Candy

Okay, I’m wondering how the guy in #3 got there?  Is that a raft that he pushed out there?  Because I don’t see any paddle to push it out there.  And I hope he’s going to eat what he catches and not just catch and throw them back.  It seems rather cruel to hook them for the fun of it.

Of course, I love the rainbows in #6 and #13…

And #1 is sooo serene…wish I were there…Bless nature for the comfort it offers us…

Awesome Flash Mob in Ukraine

(hat tip Diane Ravitch)  The Dish posted this awesome video of a musical flash mob in Ukraine–the equivalent of our First Amendment (Freedom of Assembly) in action.

There’s just something about the defiance with music from the soul…brought tears to my eyes.  If you recall, “Ode to Joy” was the only classical song my poor mother could get me to play, and until just recently, I could not play it, due to the mercury.
