Strokes and youth

This is sobering news.  Note that the article doesn’t go into diet, but if GMO’s were introduced in the 90s, and strokes started increasing at that time….is anyone going to look into the connection?

Also, colorectal cancer has increased in youth at the rate of 13%  from 1992-2005.  The article goes for the easy blame of fast food….without exploring the GMO connection or toxic environment.   I’m not saying that fast food isn’t a factor, because it is not healthy, but they need to go more deeply.

Also, neither of these articles explore economic factors where the families buy processed food because it’s cheaper, and the family’s health suffers because of it.

Breast cancer rates among the young, and especially young black women, are rising, too–tripling from 1976 to 2009.  Red flags all over the place, folks.

For me personally, one of my lumps has shrunk, the other has stayed the same, a little over a year after discovery.  Interestingly, I had read somewhere that women with fibrocystic breast disease respond well to iodine.  If you recall, last year, about this time,  I had three breast lumps and they were increasing in size.  After increasing my iodine, one disappeared and the other stayed the same size.

Within the mercury poisoning group, there is great debate about low thyroid and iodine.  Some folks are adamantly against iodine, saying if one has Hashimoto’s (which I suspect I have because it is autoimmune and goes with Celiac), that iodine will make it worse.  That hasn’t been my experience.  With the shrinking breast lumps, I would say that my intuition has been right in increasing the iodine.

Mercury interferes with iodine absorption.  the Barium sprayed from chem trails interferes with iodine absorption.    These are most likely factors in the increases in cancer, since the thyroid is a master gland controlling nearly every important body function, from the pituitary to the adrenals, to the gut, to brain function.  This is serious stuff, and messing with the environment is coming around to bite us in the arse.

Minamata Convention on Mercury

This is good news–finally a recognition of the devastating effects of mercury amalgams.    Of course, the United States was right there to sign on….oh, wait….

From the letter posted to our group:

Dear friends,

I have returned from Minamata, Japan where I was honored to witness more than 90 nations sign the new mercury treaty, now formally known as the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

For three years, our movement worked to get amalgam included in this treaty…and we did it! Together, we have made so much progress:

Three years ago, a few scattered groups in developed countries were battling amalgam by themselves. Today, the World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry has gathered environmental organizations, dental societies, and consumer associations from every region of the globe to share experiences, pull technical expertise, and join forces on projects to phase out dental amalgam.

Three years ago, it was hard to get governments to take mercury fillings seriously. Today, the treaty recognizes amalgam as such a big problem that our mercury-free dentistry workshops in Minamata were packed with government officials; indeed about two dozen countries named amalgam as a priority in speeches at the signing ceremony.

Three years ago, amalgam was not an issue at the mercury treaty negotiations, according to the staff leader coordinating the treaty sessions. Today – as we watched nations sign a treaty that requires the phase-down of amalgam, a treaty that can be amended to set amalgam’ s phase-out date – that same staff leader told me, “You made it into an issue.”

As president of the umbrella coalition World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry, I was proud to lead our Minamata delegation of talented environmental and dental non-profit group leaders from nine nations and five continents. For us, the treaty signing was not merely ceremonial – we seized the opportunity to meet with environmental ministers, foreign ministers, and even a prime minister to discuss effective measures for transitioning to mercury-free dentistry.

How have we been able to make so much progress in just three years? Because of you. Your support has meant we could get our worldwide team to these treaty sessions. It has meant we could stand eyeball-to-eyeball with the pro-mercury World Dental Federation (FDI) – whom we outworked, out-strategized, and out-pointed. It has meant professionals from developing nations could be there to speak for themselves – and personally refute the claim that mercury fillings belong in low-income countries.

Thanks to hundreds of good folks like you, we met the matching gift goal set by Dr. Joseph Mercola during Mercury-Free Dentistry Week. Your donations totaled $75,000 – and Dr. Mercola will match your donations, dollar for dollar. Now we can start the next stage of our work: using the treaty to stop amalgam use!

With the treaty signed*, it is time to work on getting it implemented. The mercury treaty requires nations not only to phase down amalgam use, but also to take two or more phase-down measures listed in the treaty’s Annex A. But some treaty phase-down measures are effective; others are not. That’s why the World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry advocates proven treaty phase-down measures that have worked in countries like Sweden, Denmark, and Japan:

Promoting alternatives through consumer education

Changing dental school curriculum to end instruction in amalgam placement and focus on mercury-free fillings instead

Adjusting insurance policies and government programs so they fully cover mercury-free alternatives

We look forward to working with you in this exciting new stage of the campaign for mercury-free dentistry!

Signs of Dyslexia

(A note~ I changed the video in the previous blog on Education and Malala)

As you know, I’m dyslexic.  I thought I’d pass along this list of symptoms for those who may be similarly affected:

1. Known in family tree.

2.  Not speaking by 1st birthday.

3.  Twisted Oral Speech – Multiple Syllables  (like saying am-in-al for animal or pasghetti for spaghetti — my daughter did this and I thought it was just a cute part of being a little one “dutchy” as my Mom would call it.)

4.  Stuttering in early years

5.  Cluttering early

6.  Articulation Difficulties m/n, r/l, even in adults

7.  Chronic Ear Infections  (I would say chronic earaches, too.  Get this–many of us on the mercury poisoning list have earaches or history of ear infections.  When I’m chelating, I always get an earache.)

8.  Can’t master tying shoes.

9.  Trouble with left/right

10.  Late to establish a dominant hand.   (I’m not sure why it is important to establish a dominant hand.  I would think after all the years of abuse connected with forcing left handed children to use their right hands, that the thought of a dominant hand being important would die away….)

11.  Mixed dominance w/hand per task.  (Again, I don’t know why such importance is put on this–)

12.  Can’t say or write alphabet in sequence.

13.  Difficulty spelling last name.  (Ha.  Try one with four syllables)

14.  Address/Phone # difficulty

15.  Sequence, Names, and Sounds of alphabet (where one has to keep starting over from the beginning to name all the letters)

16.  Sequence Days of the Week and Month  (I solved this by creating a picture in my mind of the months and the days of the week–the days look connected like a telephone pole line.  The months look like a calendar in my head.)

17.  Multiplication facts (Math is difficult because there is no reason.  Dyslexics need to have a reason.  This really slammed me–one of the things I told my calculus adviser was that the instructors tell you a problem. I wanted to know “why” .  I knew by the look she gave me that there was a reason they didn’t do this (in Indiana University, their math program featured books written by women mathematicians that explained it in a way that I (and probably other dyslexics) could understand.  We want to know why and if we don’t know why, it gets in the way of solving the problem.

18.  Knows a word on page 1, but not on page 3.  In the excellent book I got from my PUBLIC Library, it explained that dyslexics get stuck on words that they can’t associate with a picture.  This was my daughter’s difficulty, too.  I would point to the word “the” and then turn the page and point to it again, and she couldn’t recognize it, even though she just looked at it.  This was because a, an, and the don’t stand for any particular object.  She could remember words like “ball” because it stood for this round thing that bounced.

19.  Won’t try to sound out unknown words.

20.  Terrible Spelling – often no vowels.  This is the opposite of me–I was an excellent speller.  I have lost the ability, however, with the mercury poisoning.  I misspell words that I know. (updated 5.2015: I am now recognizing and spelling words better….so there’s progress in that direction.)

21.  Terrible Penmanship–dysgraphia.  (Again, the opposite of me–I have very nice penmanship.  This is explained that dyslexics are highly creative–supposedly, the right side of their brains are larger.)

22.  Impacts Visual Memory–3D is the gifted area

23.  Handwriting posture – Often head on desk or turning paper.  Yup, that would be me.

24.  Extreme difficulty with cursive. (Again, not a problem for this dyslexic — nice cursive writing.)

25.  Reversals after 2 years of writing practice instruction.

26.  Writing Conventions are very poor, but content is okay.  (Poor capitalization and paragraphing.  Dyslexics need to write first, take a break, and then come back to edit later.)

27.  Word retrieval issues

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seriously, writing this entry, I’ve had to re-type several times because of the backwards letters.  Being dyslexic requires more energy–hence the reason they tend to want to give up in frustration. (I’m also chelating, and it’s amazing how much worse my symptoms are….so yeah, you know what I’m thinking–is dyslexia related to mercury/heavy metal poisoning?)
It also should be noted that dyslexics are often treated as if they are stupid, but evidence proves that is not correct.  Dyslexics are highly intelligent.  My daughter would have been branded stupid for the rest of her life if I had listened to her teacher.  I just want to encourage parents that you are the best judge of your child, and to listen to your instincts.
The story behind Miriam Carey
Miriam Carey was a dental hygienist.  And you all know what I’m going to ask–is she being autopsied?  and will they look for mercury poisoning?  Because her actions are textbook mercury poisoning—she had instances of delusions, she obviously had over the top aggression, and she was depressed.
I would want to know the history of where she grew up–was she in a neighborhood subject to toxins?  Were chemtrails being sprayed over her home in the days leading up to her doing this?  Was she eating GMO’s and undiagnosed Celiac?  Something tells me these questions won’t be asked…and they need to be.
One report said that friends who knew her before she became a dental hygienist said she had no mental issues at that time—so….if this occurred after becoming exposed to mercury in a dental practice—then it is a definite possibility.  Arsenic may also be a factor.
Also, the events surrounding pregnancy and giving birth need to be looked at since the sister says she was having issues afterward.  Did she have a Rho-Gam shot?  Even though mercury was supposed to have been removed in 2001, it reportedly still contains mercury.  And knowing what I know about the other vaccines, it probably has other issues.
During my research, it popped up that there were questions of a link between Rho-Gam and autism.  I found this disputing the biased research saying there was no link.   Others are bringing up the issue that the shot can sensitize a woman’s system.
Was she required to have annual flu shots to work in the dental practice?  They also contain mercury and other toxins.  This, plus accumulation from the mercury exposure in a dental practice, arsenic, and pesticide toxicity could have sent her over the edge.
Here’s the safeminds.org brochure on vaccines.
(And a side note here: current legislation regarding vaccination in different states.)
Here’s a paper disputing the value of the Rho-Gam shot.
Pregnant mothers, mercury, and toxins
Well, this   sounded refreshing by the title.  But I’ll hold my applause until they actually put their money where their mouths are and get off their duffs.
This sentence is why I have my doubts:
“What we’re trying to get is the balance between awareness and alarmist,” said Dr. Jeanne Conry, president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
~~~~~~~~`

We are waaaay past alarm.  If you’re not alarmed, you haven’t been paying attention.  This is decades past due!  They knew this back in the sixties, so spare me the tender steps and get on it already.  And don’t act all concerned with women’s health when you’re willing to poison them with vaccination….and of course, you’re not willing to treat poor women with whatever they can pay you.

I cannot believe they are recommending fish, especially catfish, tuna and salmon.  This report states catfish are okay, but I have read in other reports that they are high in mercury.   Fish can be high not only in mercury but toxins from pesticides [PDF} and other farm run off.  I don’t go along with the statement that this is good news in regards to standards for drinking water.  I cannot drink tap water because of the contaminants. Note that they are STILL finding DDT decades after being banned.   And because of “budgetary restraints” glyphosate (Monsanto’s RoundUP)  was not measured.   This should alarm everyone.

…and they’re asking the American Chemical Society for its input? A group that makes its living off of chemicals that are toxic to us and destroy our immune systems?  Seriously??

And in the we-are-our-own-worst-enemy category–the report states there are high concentrations of chemicals from home lawn and garden use in streams, etc. in the urban setting.  I’ve told the story before, but it bears repeating–there was a couple who had the perfect yard–grass was unnaturally green and not a “weed” in sight.  They sprayed for weeds frequently, I’m told.  They had not one but two dogs die of cancer.  Yep.

So…yeah, we have our own culpability for contributing to the toxic soup in pursuit of a perfect yard.  And perfect looking vegetables and fruits…who cares if they’re nutritious or not….kind of like our state of society right now, eh?  We judge more by the outside packaging than by what is on the inside….

Okay, I’m off my soapbox.  For now.

The Letter

This has to be one of the hardest blogs I’ve written to date….

I saw this in the Canadian news….but didn’t read it…just reading the lead-in made me want to skip it.    It hits a little too close to home because this is more prevalent than people understand.

I’m not sure if this boy has been stricken because of vaccines/heavy metal poisoning, but given how many children are affected after receiving vaccines…I’m wondering…

…hatefulness towards the vulnerable/different is  a phenomenon we mercury poisoned folks have noticed.  At our sickest, we are very vulnerable and people pick up on that subconsciously.  Now, there are good folks who realize you’re not well and they may or may not help, but they don’t make things worse by taking advantage of your situation.  I think of them as angels walking the Earth.  Truly, I was becoming sicker from mercury as I dealt with the aftermath of the bitter divorce…a very confusing and stressful time…and when I thought I couldn’t put one foot in front of another, one of these angels would say or do something kind…

Others, however, whom I characterize as feeding the dark, also pick up on that vulnerability …and attack.  It’s kicking someone when they’re down.  It is the most vile, hateful thing I’ve ever experienced or hope to experience.

Many members of the group have remarked on being abandoned by family.    Their families don’t believe they have mercury poisoning, and they just need to “snap out of it”.   It’s a sad and bewildering time for them.   You might recall  the mercury poisoned young lady whose family had abandoned her and she ended up living out of her car.  She lost hope of ever getting well and committed suicide.

As you will see with the article’s comments, some put forth that the woman who wrote the letter is sick herself.  Perhaps.  It wouldn’t surprise me.

I hope that if this child is mercury toxic (and possibly Celiac) that his mother will be led to that as I was….

…and that the letter writer, if also stricken, will find it, too.

But something tells me that she will not…

Following the mercury trail…

Here is an excellent piece on solving the mercury mystery….it’s not really that hard if one looks for it.  But that would require work and persistence…

This passage really struck home to me:

He was only 44 years old. The cause of death, according to the ASA account, was lupus erythermatosis, an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks its own healthy tissue. According to his death certificate, as mentioned above, his brother, Ritchey, died of multiple myeloma — a cancer of the immune system, formed by malignant plasma cells in the bone marrow.

~~~~~~~~
Mercury/heavy metals cause autoimmune diseases.  They also cause cancer.   I mean, they actually use nickel in labs to give rats cancer! These are well known, but rarely looked at by the medical profession…why??
Too much profit in providing medical care?? Too much profit for Big Pharma??
If you think not, just remember the story by Gary Null about the hospital in Washington state that first entertained the idea of liquid zinc helping women suffering from anorexia/bulimia…when the doc who discovered the connection was asked to speak before the hospital staff, the bean counters pulled the administrators aside and remarked that if a simple thing like liquid zinc could bring results in a week or so, what would happen to their $$$ profits on the eating disorders clinic…??  Yep.
As Shirley Chisholm said, “When profits come up against morality, it’s rare that profits lose.”
Poverty and Education; Gates and Broad
The thing that gets pushed aside with “school reformers” is the link between poverty and lower grades.  I never fully understood this country’s contempt for the poor until now.   You truly have to experience it as a poor person to understand.  You’re worse than criminals because at least criminals get three hots and a cot.  What does Congress do?  Cut funding to the Housing and Urban Development and cut food stamps.
And I found this excellent post by Joanne Barkan  on the fallacy of “school reform” by Gates, Broad, et al.  It is sickening how Gates has manipulated data, ignored poverty, and is stealthily racist when you view the public schools that closed being heavily minority.  Gates shoveled millions upon millions towards this boondoggle when instead he could have paid taxes so that those schools would be well-funded and able to have smaller class size so that teachers could help those that had more difficulty learning, or it could have helped the poor kids get nutritious meals cooked from scratch….the simple solutions that would have the greatest impact.
From the website:
In November 2008, Bill and Melinda gathered about one hundred prominent figures in education at their home outside Seattle to announce that the small schools project hadn’t produced strong results. They didn’t mention that, instead, it had produced many gut-wrenching sagas of school disruption, conflict, students and teachers jumping ship en masse, and plummeting attendance, test scores, and graduation rates. No matter, the power couple had a new plan: performance-based teacher pay, data collection, national standards and tests, and school “turnaround” (the term of art for firing the staff of a low-performing school and hiring a new one, replacing the school with a charter, or shutting down the school and sending the kids elsewhere).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sickening, isn’t it??

More:

States were desperate for funds (in the end, thirty-four applied in the two rounds of the contest).

[…]

Enter the Gates Foundation. It reviewed the prospects for reform in every state, picked fifteen favorites, and, in July 2009, offered each up to $250,000 to hire consultants to write the application. Gates even prepared a list of recommended consulting firms.

~~~~~~~~
That pretty much says it right there.  States were desperate for funds –they had little choice.
In the same article, the Post broke the news that Bill Gates had “secretly bankrolled” Learn-NY, a group campaigning to overturn a term-limit law so that Michael Bloomberg could run for a third term as New York City mayor. Bloomberg’s main argument for deserving another term was that his education reform agenda (identical to the Gates-Broad agenda) was transforming city schools for the better. Gates put $4 million of his personal money into Learn-NY.
~~~~~~~~~

And this should be great cause of concern:

On October 7 and 8, 2010, the Columbia Journalism Review ran a two-part investigation by Robert Fortner into “the implications of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s increasingly large and complex web of media partnerships.” The report focused on the foundation’s grants to the PBS Newshour, ABC News, and the British newspaper the Guardian for reporting on global health.

[…]

Both Gates and Broad funded “NBC News Education Nation,” a week of public events and programming on education reform that began on September 27, 2010. The programs aired on NBC News shows such as “Nightly News” and “Today” and on the MSNBC, CNBC, and Telemundo TV networks.

[…]

Gates and Broad also sponsored the documentary film Waiting for Superman

[…]

As a vehicle for their partnership, the foundation and Viacom (with some additional funds from the AT&T Foundation) set up a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization called the Get Schooled Foundation.

~~~~~~~~~~
There is a reason that Ronald Reagan’s and Bill Clinton’s FCC* allowed more consolidation of the media–the press has always been part of the Fourth Estate that kept Congress and the President in check.  If the media was weakened with consolidation, it concentrated ownership which in turn shut off different opinions, viewpoints, and independent voices.  It also stifled competition between media….ironic coming from people who often bring up “encouraging competition”  as a reason for allowing bank deregulation, relaxing EPA rules, and repealing or relaxing antitrust regulation.
The corporate takeover of public schools got a foothold because the media was not doing its job of investigating what was going on and who was behind it….because they were being bankrolled by those very people they should have been investigating.
*The Federal Communications Commission is staffed by presidential appointees.  The American public owns the airwaves, but those rights are being taken away from them by media consolidation.
The link between poverty and how well a child does in school broaches the subject of healthcare.   Children who live in poor areas are more likely to be exposed to toxic environments.  Heavy metals seriously impact one’s ability to learn, one’s ability to remember, and one’s ability towards impulse control–all of these impact a child’s education.  In addition, as anyone who has read this blog knows, ADD is a problem when heavy metals are involved–totally frustrating a child who may get distracted and lose focus during the teacher’s instruction, missing important information.
On the Edumucation Front…
Well, folks, the Bush family just keeps on giving and giving….
…what exactly they’re giving (perhaps the word is *taking*)  is open to debate…
Diane Ravitch has a blog up on the Jeb Bush Miracle .  *cough*
Florida school grades released today are “worse than useless measures of educational quality,” according to a local expert on assessment. Bob Schaeffer, Pubic Education Director of the National Center for Fair & Open Testing (FairTest), explained, “Based largely on scores from the low quality FCAT exam, state officials change the grading formula each year to serve their political agendas.”
And more here on those Lazy Teachers.  Really?  And how many hours have you spent in a classroom?  Or with your own children reading to them or playing with them or asking them about the lessons they learned in school that day….?  Methinks thou art a phony…
The nurse did it….
…in the break room….(sorry…this reads too much like an Agatha Christie mystery)
One has to wonder at the nurse being poisoned, too, for her behavior.  She was already being written up for her behavior, and over time she and the rest in the practice would be affected.  Have I  mentioned before that dentists have the highest suicide rate among the professions?
