Today, July 22, is Mary of Magdala’s feast day.

She was raised in Magdala, a wealthy community of fisherman.

She was not a whore or prostitute as the Catholic Church has tried to portray her.

She was of a wealthy family and supported Jesus’ teachings.

She was one of the three women who stayed by Him as He suffered and died.

She was the one who was the first to see Him risen.

She is an unacknowledged disciple.

I don’t believe the story of her living out her days in a cave in France, but I believe she was beheaded. They parade her head around France in w barbaric ceremony on this day, still claiming she was a reformed whore.

God Bless Mary Magdalene and all that she did, unknown and unacknowledged.
