Doctors not being able to question authority is a grave concern. This is like what happened to my Dad, an osteopathic physician, when he used Laetrile (cancer medicine made cheaply from apricot pits), to help a patient with cancer. Sloan-Kettering had promising research to show Laetrile worked. Nixon called Sloan Kettering officials to Washington, D.C., and they suddenly buried the evidence and began labeling doctors who prescribed it as quacks. Nixon wanted to begin using HMO’s and making health care into a for-profit disaster. My Dad used Laetrile anyway, and made me promise not to tell anyone because he would lose his license. What a world we live in!!
