We had a fatal accident here this past week–head-on collision killed a 45 year old woman. Witnesses reported that she was texting while driving. A tragedy that could have been avoided.
Not only a tragedy for her, but for the young man who hit and killed her. He will have to live with that memory for the rest of his life.
While I was in Fort Wayne the other day, I saw driver after driver talking on the damn phone and they were not paying attention to their driving. Some were going too slow, too fast, or veering off the straight line. And if you’ve ever driven in Fort Wayne, you will know that stop signs and speed limits are suggestions….so yeah, not the place to be inattentive.
THERE IS NO PHONE CALL SO IMPORTANT THAT YOUR LIFE OR THE LIVES OF THOSE AROUND YOU IS WORTH DYING FOR!
I hate to “yell” but if it will get the message through…
I mean, really, the phone call can wait until you’re at a safe place to talk with someone.
I’ve always told my kids that I don’t want them on the phone when driving. I don’t want to hear “screeeeeech” and “boom” when talking to them. They still do it, however, and after this, I may have to get more drastic and hang up on them if they do call me when driving. Maybe if we parents gave a little tough love, we could stop a tragedy in the making…
