Phyllis Diller

…loved her humor.  One of kind, for sure. May she be at peace.

My mother gave me a copy of her book “Motherhood” (pepto-bismol cover) that is now missing (probably stolen with my stuff in 2008).

She wrote about Fang (husband) coming home one day to see one of their kids running around with scissors.  When he expressed alarm, she quipped that they, too, looked dangerous to her that morning…

…you have to be a Mom (or stay-at-home Dad) to get that joke…after a day of putting out fires, your perspective changes on what is important and what you can let slide…

…and with each kid, you get a little less uptight (at least, I did).  With my firstborn, my son, I cried the first time he bled.  I thought I was a terrible mother for allowing my baby to get hurt.  Geesh.   By the time the third one came, I just slapped a bandaid on it and went on with the day…
